    Is there a reason that the input and output level controls are valued other than the ability to control them from within the VirtualStudio UI? Isn’t it a lot easier for musicians to adjust physical controls than GUI ones?

    Winston, I am testing out some USB audio interfaces as well.

    Please send me info about the USB audio interfaces you got working. I am going to update this page sometime soon.

    So far, I got the following working:

    Behringer U-PHORIA UMC-22 (I had to modify jacktrip-init.sh to get it to work properly.) Has two inputs with level controls, and headphone volume control. Not controllable from JackTrip webapp.

    StarTech.com ICUSBAUDIOB (Available from Amazon and others). Has more headphone volume than most USB adapters. Controllable from JackTrip webapp.

    Is the fact that the U-Phoria wasn't controllable from the JackTrip webapp a deal breaker?  Can you provide the jacktrip-init.sh file you modified to get it to work with the U-Phoria?

    No, you adjust the Behringer (like almost all audio interfaces) with the physical controls on it, which is generally easier. So it is not a deal breaker. The only downside to this is that it would not be possible for the owner of the JackTrip server to adjust the client volumes remotely, but that is not always needed.

    This file should work with almost any audio adapter or audio interface that connects via USB to a Raspberry Pi.

    In order to install it into a Virtual Studio device, you will need to SSH onto your device, then use the rw command to make the file system writeable, use the scp command (along with sudo) to copy the file, then use "ro" to set the file system back to read only. If none of this makes sense to you, you probably shouldn't be trying to do it! Hopefully, this new file will make it into a new version of the Virtual Device disk image soon.

    If you do manage to install this, let me know if you have any problems with it.

    I'd like to use my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 with my Virtual Studio box, but could use a bit of help. I worked with Unix (mainly BSD and Sun) for years but haven't used a Raspberry Pi before. Could you give me a longer description of what to do? I presume the "use the rw command" instruction means something like "mount --w /"

    I don't mind mucking about on the box, but I really don't want to brick it.

    If you are going to do this with a Virtual Studio device, then you need to remove the HiFiBerry audio adapter from it. Alternatively, you can just buy a new Raspberry Pi (they are inexpensive) so you don't have to muck with your Virtual Studio device.

    FYI, I've gotten and assembled the Vilros package from Amazon. Should I download the basic Raspberry Pi image or go for the JackTrip image?

    Progress so far: downloaded the JackTrip image and burned it to microSD card. Boots up and accepts a SSH connection. /etc/jacktrip/devicename shows the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. OK to plug my headphones into the pi 3.5mm jack and see what happens?
