Jacktrip connections can be made with the JackTrip Virtual Studio, or with your personal computer.
The Virtual Studio device allows easily connecting to others through Virtual Studio hub servers. Everyone in the session connects to the hub server through their device, and the server sends all audio back to all participants. This makes connecting to a JackTrip server easier, and is usually the right choice for non-technical users, or for large groups.
Computer-based Jacktrip connections can be made via Mac/Win/Linux
operating systems with JACK for OSX or JACK for WIN10 installed first, and then the
Jacktrip Open Source app. This approach allows ultimate flexibility in how you use and manage JackTrip, and therefore is favored by highly technical users. You can connect directly to other JackTrip clients via P2P connections, run your own audio server, or even connect to Virtual Studio servers without a Virtual Studio device.
