Before we start
This guide assumes you have all the necessary gear:
- JackTrip Analog Bridge (AKA "device" in the article below)
- Power Supply
- Ethernet Cable
- Headphones & adapter
- Microphone & cable (Dynamic, USB, or with a Mixer)

Connecting all the things
Here are the ports found on the JackTrip Analog Bridge that we will be focusing on.
- NET — Ethernet socket used for the Internet connection.
- MIC — ⅛ inch (3.5mm) TRS input from a microphone (or from a mixer or audio interface).
- AUDIO OUT — Two RCA jacks; red is the right channel. Output to headphones (or optional headphone amplifier).
- POWER — USB-C jack to connect to a power supply.
- USB — Not specifically labeled above, to the left of the "NET" port
Note: Don't connect the power supply until the end!
1. Connect the Ethernet Cable
Plug one end of the ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the JackTrip Bridge.
Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your Internet router or switch.
If you have a network switch that is connected to your router via Ethernet cables, it’s OK to plug the Bridge into that.
Note: do not use any form of WiFi extender or ethernet bridge device, as this will add significant latency and jitter that degrades audio quality.
Step 2. Connect the RCA Jacks
Connect the RCA jacks on the headphone adapter.
Use the 3.5mm adapter to connect your favorite pair of wired headphones (not shown).
We discourage the use of any headphones that include a microphone. Many of these models have jacks which do not make a proper connection and may cause your audio to have a lot of crackling noise or to cut in and out. For more info, please refer to Step 1: Getting the right gear
3. Connect the Microphone
There are a few different microphone options- here are the specific steps to connect the mic you have:
Microphone Option 1: USB microphone
You should have the following:
- USB mic
- USB cable provided with mic
- 3.5mm (AKA 1/8") stereo audio cable to connect the headphone monitor to the device input.
Connect the USB cable and the stereo audio cable to the USB microphone.
Connect the USB cable to a USB port on your computer or the Virtual Studio device. This only provides power to the microphone- it does not send audio to the device.
note: some USB ports are noisy- if your mic picks up interference, try a different power source.
Connect the 3.5mm stereo audio cable to the input of the device, labeled "MIC".
Microphone Option 2: Dynamic microphone
You should have the following:
- Dynamic mic
- Unbalanced XLR to 3.5mm stereo cable
Connect the XLR cable to your microphone.
Connect 3.5mm jack on the other side to the input of the device, labeled "MIC".
Microphone Option 3: Using a mixer
Using a mixer allows you much greater flexibility in what kinds of microphones you can use. If your favorite microphone requires phantom power, or you'd like to use multiple input devices simultaneously (like microphone + keyboard), you should use a mixer.

4. Connect the Power Supply
Connect USB-C power adapter to the power jack located below the microphone jack, in the lower left corner.
It is now safe to plug the device into a power outlet. The Bridge will light up with the color red when powered ON. Now turn the Bridge to the side where the ethernet cable is connected and confirm a green light comes on and is flickering. A green light means that there is a live network connection.
5. Wait for the Steady Red Lights
The first time your JackTrip Analog Bridge is powered on, it can take 1-2 minutes for it to update the software and become ready for use. You will know that the device is ready when you see steady red lights through the openings on the top.
You should now have everything plugged in! You're ready for Step 3: Registering and connecting.
